Drin vs AgentMail.

AgentMail made the case that agents deserve real inboxes — and they're right. Drin agrees so completely that it built the same primitive without the per-inbox meter, then wrapped it in a full email platform your human team uses too.

Off to one side, faded, an agents-only version — a wall of identical robot mailboxes each ticking a coin meter, a velvet rope keeping humans out.
// the short version

Same idea — agents with real inboxes — but Drin drops the per-inbox tax and serves the whole team.

AgentMail is a focused, well-funded, agent-first product, and the inbox-as-primitive framing is exactly right. If you want a pure agent-inbox vendor and price isn't a concern, it's a strong pick.

Drin's bet is different: agents that spin up thousands of inboxes make per-inbox pricing explode, and most teams also send transactional mail and run campaigns. Drin gives agents unlimited inboxes on volume-only pricing, and the same account runs your product's email — one bill for the team and its agents.

#02 — Where Drin wins

The three that decide it.

DRIN × AGENTMAIL · WHERE DRIN WINSSHEET OF 3
01.1No per-inbox tax

Spin up 10 inboxes or 10,000 — you pay for email volume, never per address. Agent fleets don't blow up the bill.

01.2The humans too

Same account sends your product's transactional mail and runs campaigns. AgentMail is agents-only; Drin is the team and its agents.

01.3Your domain, your reputation

Inboxes live on your own domain and sending reputation — not inside a managed pod you don't control.

#03 — Pricing, compared

What you actually pay.

AgentMail meters inboxes; Drin meters email volume. For anything past a handful of agents — or once your team also sends and markets — Drin is dramatically cheaper.

#04 — Credit where it's due

What AgentMail does well

AgentMail is sharp, focused and agent-native to its core, with websocket delivery for truly real-time inbound and a clean pod-isolation model — and it's backed by serious funding and traction. If you're building an agent product and want a vendor whose entire roadmap is agent inboxes, that focus is a real advantage. Drin's counter is breadth and price: the same inbox primitive with no per-inbox meter, plus the transactional and marketing email your human team needs, on one account.

#05 — Switching

Moving over is a weekend.

  1. 1

    Create inboxes by API

POST /v1/inboxes makes an address on your domain. Loop it for a fleet — no per-inbox charge to watch.

  2. 2

    Point your MCP client

Drop in the Drin MCP key. Your agent gets send, read, reply and search tools on the same threads.

  3. 3

    Add the team's email

Wire your app's transactional sends and any campaigns into the same account. One bill, humans and agents.

#06 — Questions

Asked about AgentMail.

Do I really get unlimited inboxes?+

You create as many inboxes as you need on your domain; you're billed on email volume, not inbox count. There's no per-address fee.

Does Drin do real-time inbound like websockets?+

Drin delivers inbound over signed webhooks in a few hundred milliseconds. AgentMail also offers websockets; if hard real-time streaming is core to you, weigh that. For most agent workflows, webhooks are plenty.

Is Drin agent-native or an afterthought?+

Agent operability is first-class: a 54-tool MCP server, a CLI, coding-agent skills for Claude/Cursor/Codex/Lovable/Replit, and framework adapters — plus approve-by-reply so an agent can draft but a human launches.

Can agents and my product share one account?+

Yes — that's the point. Your transactional mail, campaigns and every agent inbox live on one account and one bill.
